(San Jose, CA,- April 25, 2017) – Medea Inc. announced today the sale of its namesake vodka to Bevriqo Corporation. MEDEA Vodka, the ultra-premium vodka, with its one-of-a-kind personally programmable LED display, was re-launched just three short years ago and has seen its distribution grow across the United States, in Canada, Europe, Asia, Latin America and parts of Africa and Russia.
MEDEA Vodka is distilled by the House of Herman Jansen of the Netherlands, one of the oldest and most respected distilleries in Europe. The sale to Bevriqo Corporation is another indication that award-winning MEDEA Vodka can compete among the best in its class.
“We are very proud of the awards MEDEA Vodka has received. We’ve built a great distribution network throughout the U.S. and abroad. The tremendous success we’ve demonstrated in our retail channels is proof consumers are enthusiastic about the concept of pairing our technology with packaging,” said Brandon Laidlaw, CEO of Medea, Inc.
Bevriqo, a company focused on the production, distribution, and marketing of innovative, high quality distilled spirits worldwide, will begin doing business immediately as Medea Vodka. Heading the sales and operations of the company are Rich Cabael, CEO, and Scott Lantz, SVP – Sales and Operations, and together they bring over 30 years of experience in managing brands and products.
Cabael, who previously founded VuQo Inc., the creator of the world’s first vodka distilled from coconut, shared, “Our company is comprised of people with international alcohol beverage experience and we’re focused on creating innovative brands, developing import/export, retail and distribution channels, and building solid relationships with our partners both now and in the future. MEDEA’s award-winning vodka and interactive bottle technology differentiate this brand from all others. We look forward to building on this truly groundbreaking product’s success.”
Laidlaw noted, “MEDEA has been both a spirits and a technology company. As a young company, we need to focus on the core strength of Medea, Inc., which is our patented technology. In the past year we have received numerous requests to license our patented technology. Thus, we have chosen to exit the spirits business. With our corporate headquarters in the Silicon Valley area, it makes it hard for us to ignore the growth potential for pairing our technology with myriad consumer products.”
The terms of the sale were not disclosed.
MEDEA Vodka’s Bluetooth technology was first showcased at the Las Vegas Nightclub & Bar Convention in the Spring of 2015. The MEDEA LED display comes pre-programmed with six often-used phrases. With the introduction of the MEDEA Vodka App, users can program up to ten personal messages. The free MEDEA Vodka App has been downloaded multiple thousands of times.
MEDEA Vodka is distributed across the United States through Allied Beverage Group, Breakthru Beverage, Glazer’s, JBW Group of Iowa, Major Brands, Republic National Distributing Company, Standard Beverage Corporation, United Liquors and Young’s Market Company. Medea is also available in Europe, Africa, Latin America and Asia through GTRD, GmbH, Germany.
